Users review: Disconnect (2012) **** (out of 4) excellent character study to watch a group of people who had their lives destroyed by their activities over the Internet. The story focuses on a married couple (Paula Patton, Alexander Skarsgård) are mourning the loss of their child when they discover that their identity has been stolen. Lawyer (Jason Bateman) tries to understand what happened to his son that he did something drastic. A television reporter (Andrea Riseborough) using Internet sex actor (Max Thieriot) for their own needs. A former cop (Frank Grillo) discovered that his son has done something morally wrong. Remove finally bring all these stories together. Theres no question that none of these stories are the work and I think it's safe to say that many of them play out exactly as you expect them. Usually this here will kill the movie but the director Henry Alex Rubin and screenwriter Andrew Stern does a great job in giving the characters that we consider VAE, nt around, want to know more about, and help to bring the entire picture. I think this film has a very good idea about how people have lost touch with reality and sometimes come in a dangerous situation, from online simply because they have nothing better to do or they're looking for some kind of connection that they can not find in their own lives. This movie really does a good job explaining all the characters and really develop them all so you really feel as if you; know these people and understand everything they are doing and why. It certainly does not hurt that has so many outstanding performances. Both Bateman and Grillo really stand out as parents who fear that they have let their children down. Thieriot, making waves in the Bates Motel, is also very good at it. All the players really shine here, and it says a lot about their talent, but also a script that gives them so much to do. Once again, I think a lot of people will see the conclusion coming but it really does not matter because you get the emotional connection with the characters. Disconnect certainly a gem of a picture that shows what a great script, direction and work to do. |
