Users review: I was 16 when the original American Pie came out. It was a movie that spoke to me a lot. It was my generation Ridgemont High, you might say. Sequels were also enjoyable. But to say that the series does not wear thin may be an understatement. And do not even get me started on the direct DVD creations. The surprise of American Reunion me with some funny trailers, nostalgia and grabbed my balls. Having had the opportunity to see an early screening, I am pleased to say that this series is remembered as being.Theres nothing too out of the norm for American Pie film series. We find the original cast live more than ten years after the original film. Jim and Michelle have some marital problems and raising a child. Stiffler things work as temp, treat a head hole. Finch became a mystery of sorts. Oz is a big shot sportscaster with a supermodel girlfriend. And Kevin is a stay at home spouse, slash architect. The group returns for their high school reunion and reconnect with each other and their classmates. But this is a film that is as much about the audience watching as it is for our favorite foursome. As noted, the film is remarkable in plot terms. Unlike his previous films, there is a great endgame to hang. Theres no end to the loss of innocence as the first film, to find true love the second movie, or to have a successful wedding that the third film. Instead, only those characters handle returned to his hometown and its individual issues.If nothing, the film is very nostalgic. Its filled with characters and situations reminiscent of the earlier films. It still manages to surprise with its many shenanigans, the boys get out of some tight spots awkward to Jim once found in extremely uncomfortable situations. Heck, we even get some really surprising moments that are just as many laugh out loud. But the audience that grew up on these films, it will be like a trip down memory lane. Its fun to watch all your favorite characters return, did not use them all for all of the major roles. Even see characters like Oz or Vicky, whose real-life counterparts havent had a career in the American Pie movie is fun to watch again. And they all did a great job to change characters. Best of all, the movie is fun, with lots of laughter moments.My biggest botheration with the film is the lack of a strong central plot. Nostalgia only goes so far and theres really nothing to hold on to here about these characters something to work for. By comparison, there was the ever-present goal of guys lose their virginity. Here, their personal issues seem scarce. Yes, Jim and Michelle have questions, but never really feels like it wont work. Knowing these signs, you already know that they love each other. The same is true for most people, who know you always come out on top. This is despite some surprises. And the whole movie revolves around the upcoming reunion, an event that does not seem to have much influence on the direction the characters take, theres never a real sense of character growth. Instead, you should just hang out with the guys again, watching trouble.But get this error. Its ok because the movie is funny. Much of what happens as a sort of humorous situations from other movies. There are some truly laugh out loud moments and surprises will have you howling. Despite my nostalgic interest in the film, I found some really fun and surprising moments. For fans, this should be a no-brainer. The film is definitely worth seeing. |
